IES Växjö will open its doors to students in August 2022. A digital information evening has been planned for Thursday, 7 October 2021, from 18:00 until 19:30 so that you can learn as much as possible about the school, what we promise to families, and what daily life will be like for your child. The event will also give you the chance to ask questions about the school

If the public health situation allows we hope to arrange an information evening in the town in due course, everyone who has placed their child in the queue for the school will be invited to the event.

To register for the webinar please fill in this form, by Wednesday, 6 October 2021, we will then be able to send you a link on the day of the Webinar so that you can take part.

In the meantime, if you would like to see life at an IES school, you can also take a digital tour of some of our 43 schools around Sweden here.

From August 2022, families in Växjö and the local area will be able to send their children to learn at a new bilingual school.

Internationella Engelska Skolan will open the school in Telestadshöjden, a newly built neighbourhood just south of Växjö.

The school will accommodate approximately 600 students when full, with two classes in each grade from F–9. However, initially the school will be smaller, and the number of classes in each year-group during the school’s first year will be decided based on where the interest is strongest.  There will not be a grade 9 during the first year as few families tend to wish to move a child in the final year of compulsory education as this can be a large adjustment.

Anna Sörelius Nordenborg, CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan, said: “In opening this school we are able to meet both the demand from families for high-quality and bilingual education, and the municipality’s need for an increased number of quality school places locally.  IES is committed to helping all students, regardless of background, to meet their full potential. We are proud of the trust placed in us and look forward to the contribution that this new school, with its international profile, will make to the area.”

Work has started to build a first class, modern school, with everything required to offer students the ideal learning environment.

We are also working to recruit a principal who will hand-pick outstanding teachers from Sweden and abroad, as they build their team.

Interested families are already able to place themselves in the queue for the school by visiting and filling out the form.  Students for each year-group will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are planning to hold an information evening this autumn if this is possible under government guidelines.

Kindness Embroidery Installation

Kindness Embroidery Installation

At IES Länna, the practice of being kind is made a priority. While studying art of embroidery, Year 6 students researched and chose a quote revolving around the theme of kindness and helping spread its ideology throughout the school. Each student chose a quote that  resonated with them and depict a positive message for our school. Students were exposed to new materials including an embroidery hoop, embroidery thread, and a loose knit canvas. Students learned and mastered many embroidery stitches including the backstitch, running stitch and satin stitch to complete their designs.
